Hunter education field day for online students offered in Bainville on Oct. 11

BAINVILLE- A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks hunter education field day for online students has been set for Bainville on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The course will be held starting at the Bainville Fire Hall. This may be the last field day offered in the area, so don’t miss it!

Consistent with FWP’s licensing laws, students who are currently 11 and who will turn 12 by Jan. 16 of the current license year, or older, may take the online course and the requisite field day. Adults 18 and older may take the field day to gain hands-on experience, though it is not required.

The online course (course fees apply) needs to be completed before signing up for a field day. Students completing the online course must register with their field day qualifier certificate and bring their certificate to the field day.

During the field day, participants receive instruction, practice, and then demonstrate their skills and knowledge in two key areas: firearm safety and hunting ethics. Instructors provide hands-on instruction and present realistic scenarios, then evaluate students on their understanding and competency. All hands-on firearms training is done with a variety of inert firearms. Other activities may include blood trailing, game recovery and care, bear awareness, and more.
