Reps. Sweet, Snow: Local students encouraged to apply for House internship

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 22, 2026) – State Reps. Lorissa Sweet (R-Wabash) and Craig Snow (R-Winona Lake) are encouraging local students to apply for the Indiana House Republican Internship Program for the 2027 legislative session.

Sweet said this paid, full-time internship is open to college students, recent graduates and students in law or graduate school from January through April.

"Hoosier students interested in learning more about the legislative process and state government should submit their application soon," Sweet said. "The House internship only happens once a year, so don't let this deadline pass without considering this opportunity to gain valuable work experience and serve your community and state."

Snow said interns work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full-time Monday through Friday during the legislative session and gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.

"I enjoy when interns from our community bring their talents to the Statehouse," Snow said. "These young Hoosiers are building skills like teamwork, problem-solving, leadership and communication, which will greatly help them when they enter the job market."

Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.

This spring semester internship gives interested students opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
